Finance and Transactions
Status: DRAFT Last Updated: 2026-02-22 Audience: End users (company administrators, founders, finance teams)
What This Feature Does
The finance area gives you a single view of your organization’s financial picture: a dashboard with key metrics, linked bank accounts, and transaction history. You can see balances, aging, and recent activity so you can reconcile and plan without leaving Equa. Why It Matters
Startups need a clear view of cash and commitments. Having finance and transactions in one place helps founders and CFOs track what’s in the bank, what’s coming in or going out, and how it ties to your equity and billing—reducing surprises and simplifying reporting.Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure you have:- An active Equa account with access to the organization
- A role that includes permission to view or manage finance (e.g., admin, finance)
- (Optional) Bank or payment data already connected if your org uses integrations
Step-by-Step Walkthrough
Step 1: Open the Finance Dashboard
- Select your organization in the sidebar.
- Click Finance (or HH Finance / Finance dashboard, depending on the menu label).
- The dashboard opens with an overview of balances, recent transactions, and any summary cards.
Step 2: View Bank Accounts
- From the finance dashboard, open the Bank accounts (or Accounts) section.
- You’ll see a list of connected accounts with names, types, and current balances (if available).
- Use this list to confirm which accounts are linked and to spot any that need attention.
Step 3: Review Transactions and Aging
- In the finance area, open Transactions (or Transaction history) to see a list of recent activity.
- You can filter by date, account, or type (e.g., payments, transfers).
- If your plan includes aging (e.g., receivables or payables), use the aging summary or report to see what’s due and when.
Common Tasks
How to View Your Personal Transfer History
- Go to Profile (your user menu or Settings > Profile).
- Open Transfer (or EquaCash / Transfers), then Transfer history.
- You’ll see your own transfer and payment history; use filters to narrow by date or type.
Transfer history under Profile is for your personal EquaCash/transfers. Organization-level transaction history is under Organization > Finance.
How to Reconcile with Your Bank
- Use the Finance dashboard and Transactions list to see what Equa has recorded.
- Compare dates and amounts to your bank statement or accounting system.
- If something is missing or wrong, check whether the source (e.g., payment provider or integration) has synced; update or add transactions as your process allows.
How to Use the Dashboard for Planning
- Review the summary cards on the finance dashboard (e.g., total balance, upcoming obligations).
- Use aging and transaction filters to see what’s due in the next 30, 60, or 90 days.
- Combine this with Payments and billing (subscriptions, invoices) to plan cash flow.
Tips and Best Practices
- Check regularly: Glance at the finance dashboard and transaction list weekly so you catch discrepancies early.
- Use filters: When you have many transactions, use date range and account filters to focus on a specific period or account.
- Align with accounting: If you use QuickBooks or another system, keep naming and categories consistent so reconciliation is straightforward.

Balances and transactions often come from connected integrations (e.g., bank feed or payment provider). Check that the connection is healthy and that the last sync time is recent. If you’ve just linked an account, allow a short time for initial sync.
